Grigor Dimitrov

Grigor Dimitrov Dimitrov

(Bulgarian: Григор Димитров Димитров; pronounced [griˈgɔr dimiˈtrɔf]; born 16 May 1991) is a Bulgarian professional tennis player. His career-high ATP singles ranking is world No. 8, which he achieved in August 2014, shortly after reaching the semifinals of Wimbledon.

Dimitrov is the most successful Bulgarian male tennis player to date, both in terms of ranking reached—as of 2016 he is the only Bulgarian tennis player ever to be ranked inside the top 10 ATP Singles—and prize money won, being the only Bulgarian player to reach US$1m and later $8m.

Dimitrov is also the first (and only) Bulgarian male tennis player to win an ATP title in singles (after he won in October 2013 at Stockholm) and reach a final in doubles (in 2011) as well as the only Bulgarian male player to reach the third round or better at a Grand Slam tournament. He has won 5 ATP singles titles to date. Prior to his professional career, Dimitrov enjoyed a successful junior career, in which he held the world No. 1 ranking and won the Boys' Singles titles at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships and the 2008 US Open.

Early life
Grigor was born in Haskovo, Bulgaria as the only child of father Dimitar, a tennis coach, and mother Maria, a sports teacher and former volleyball player in 1991.[2] He first held a tennis racket, given to him by his mother, at the age of three, and when he was five he began to play daily.[2] In his early years his father served as his coach, but after the young Bulgarian proved his talent in the tournaments for juniors, he made it clear that he would have to develop in other conditions. At the age of 16, Dimitrov turned professional. In 2007, Dimitrov joined the academy "Sanchez-Casal", where he was further trained under the leadership of Emilio Sánchez and Pato Álvarez. A year later, Dimitrov moved to Paris, France, where he joined Patrick Mouratoglou's Tennis Academy and spent the next four seasons there.

Personal life
Dimitrov was rumored to be dating Serena Williams in early 2012 and then Maria Sharapova in late 2012. The two only confirmed their relationship after the 2013 Madrid Open, where the Bulgarian managed his first win against a world No. 1, beating Novak Djokovic. Sharapova and Dimitrov separated in July 2015. As of 2016, Dimitrov is dating singer Nicole ......

He has held the European heavyweight title twice, from 2012 to 2013 and in 2016, and has challenged once for the unified world heavyweight title in 2014. As an amateur he won multiple medals at international tournaments, including gold at the 2008 European Championships and bronze at the 2005 World Championships, all in the super-heavyweight division.

Amateur career

Heavyweight with 201lbs/ 91kg limit
In February 2002, Pulev won the Strandzha Cup, the oldest international boxing tournament in Europe, in his native Bulgaria. Pulev, who is nicknamed "The Cobra", beat Cuban world champion Odlanier Solís in the process. One month later, he lost a rematch to the Cuban at the Semifinal of the "Chemiepokal cup". He could not participate at the Euros 2002 in Perm after breaking his arm in sparring.

At the World Championships 2003, he lost again in the first round to Odlanier Solís 7:12.

At the European boxing championships 2004 in Pula he defeated world class Alexander Povernov (World Championships Bronze medalist 2005). Pulev did not qualify for the Olympics despite the fact that he won the last qualifying tournament in Gothenburg. He had to settle for the first reserve place because the heavyweight division consists of only 16 fighters participating in the Olympic Games (other weight divisions have 48–81).

The 2016 UEFA European Championship

The 2016 UEFA European Championship

The 2016 UEFA European Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2016 or simply Euro 2016, will be the 15th edition of the UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Europe organized by UEFA. It is scheduled to be held in France from 10 June to 10 July 2016. Spain are two-time defending champions.

For the first time, the European Championship final tournament will be contested by 24 teams, having been expanded from the 16-team format used since 1996.[3] Under this new format, the finalists will contest a group stage consisting of six groups of four teams, followed by a knockout stage including three rounds and the final. Nineteen teams – the top two from each of the nine qualifying groups and the best third-placed team – joined France, who qualified automatically as hosts; a series of two-legged play-off ties between the remaining third-placed teams in November 2015 decided the last four spots at the final tournament.

France was chosen as the host nation on 28 May 2010, after a bidding process in which they beat Italy and Turkey for the right to host the 2016 finals.[4][5] The matches will be played in ten stadia in ten cities: Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Étienne, and Toulouse. It will be the third time that France hosts the tournament, after the inaugural tournament in 1960 and the 1984 finals. The French team have won the European Championship twice: in 1984 and 2000.

The winning team earns the right to compete at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup hosted by Russia.
